The society intends to hold regular office hours once the COVID-19 restrictions and cautions have relaxed.
About Us
The Genealogical Society of Iredell County was organized in 1977 for the purpose of collecting and preserving materials that promote interests in family history. We are located on the top floor of the library in the Iredell Heritage Room. Our collections include family files, local history files, family Bibles, private collections, books, and much more. As resources are digitized we will make them available on this site. For research inquiries, please contact us or visit us at the library. Local history library staff are also available for assistance.
Currently, the GSIC holdings have not been digitized but that is a long-term goal of the society. However, in order to make the information contained within the collection available to researchers, indexes have been made for much of the materials. Once the collection has been digitized, the full collection of documents and images will be available in addition to the indexes. If you see anything in the indexes that you would like to know more about or to obtain an image of, please fill out the library request form and a staff member can assist you further.
The GSIC and the library have partnered with several other local businesses and organizations over the years in their efforts to preserve Iredell County history. This site has provided links to many of these groups' websites for researchers.
