September is National Library Card Signup Month

LCSUM-2023-Instagram-Share (1)

Get in Your Element this September—sign up for a library card! From borrowing books and ebooks to attending a free event, a library card helps you do more of what you enjoy. Get a library card and dive into a new hobby. A library card is your most important school supply—it's elemental, really—and everyone should have one!

Visit your library to see what's new and take part in the celebration. Libraries across the country are participating. Do you have friends who don't have a library card? Invite them to sign up this September!

How do I sign up for a library card?

The Iredell County Public Library provides free library cards to any resident who lives in or pays taxes in Iredell County.

To sign up for an account with us, all you need to do is bring a photo ID and proof of current address (if it’s not already on your ID) to one of our three library locations.  You’ll also be asked to fill out a short form at the library to verify your contact information, which normally takes no more than a few minutes. Children 5+ are also able to apply for a library card with the assistance of a legal guardian.

After our staff have finished reviewing your form and issue you your card, you will be able to begin checking out library books and using our online resources that same day.
