  1. Statesville Library, Famous & Infamous Women of North Carolina

    February 27, 2020, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Statesville Main Library

"Famous and Infamous Women of North Carolina” is an entertaining and lighthearted look at some noteworthy history—the roles and accomplishments of just a few remarkable women, among so many, in whom we can all take pride as being part of the fabric which makes North Carolina so special. These stories are especially welcomed as we celebrate in 2020 the centennial anniversary of Women’s Suffrage advanced with the ratification of the 19th Amendment. We have a woman disguised as a Civil War soldier, a couple of famous pirates, a daredevil aeronaut, an internationally famous sharpshooter, a first lady who “really, really, really” liked being married to the governor, whoever that happened to be, and two remarkable sisters who traveled the world entertaining heads of state but loved calling North Carolina home. All these tales and more are revealed and shared in a most enjoyable evening of illustrated storytelling.
